VeinGogh For Rosacea, Redness, Facial Veins, Cherry Angiomas, Small Spider Veins

Rosacea is a common and chronic skin condition affecting the face. Those who suffer from rosacea experience outbreaks of flushing, redness, pimples, pustules, and dilated blood vessels. And, it’s not fun for anyone. If left untreated, this condition can also lead to a thickening of the skin, especially on the nose. (1)

The most frustrating things about rosacea are that it remains unclear exactly what causes it and that there’s no singular cure for it. However, we can treat the symptoms. For those troubled by persistent redness and the appearance of telangiectasia, or tiny blood vessels in the face, vascular treatments can significantly decrease the appearance of redness and flushing.

Dr. David Smith, the founder of the Smith Vein Institute, treats patients with a variety of vein issues and has an innovative new treatment for rosacea symptoms: VeinGogh. The beloved Dutch painter found what healing he could in aesthetic beauty, and one can only hope that he’d be amused at this innovative technology’s name. VeinGogh is gentler than laser or intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments and can precisely target the tiny blood vessels that lead to the angry, red flushing that rosacea inflicts.

If you’re ready to take control of your rosacea, contact the Smith Vein Institute to schedule a consultation with Dr. Smith. You can call our office in Concord Township or Middlefield, Ohio, at (440) 853-8208.

About Rosacea

If you have rosacea, you’re not alone. More than 16 million Americans are affected by this skin condition. Internationally, as much as 18% of the population is stricken with rosacea in countries with predominantly Celtic heritage, like Ireland. (2) And while there are genetic links to rosacea, the factors that trigger an outbreak can be unique to each individual, as are the different symptoms and types of this condition. Patients with rosacea react to a vast panel of trigger factors such as temperature changes, heat, cold, exercise, sunlight, spicy food, and alcoholic beverages. (2) Luck o’the Irish… Troublesome redness is common among those with rosacea, but VeinGogh can effectively treat this symptom.

How Does VeinGogh Work?

VeinGogh was developed and produced in our smallest state: Rhode Island! And although it’s a grand concept, small is the point! Its developers were searching for a different way to treat delicate vascular issues: they compare treating tiny blood vessels with lasers or IPL to using a sledgehammer to push in a thumbtack.

Many doctors do treat veins with laser therapy or intense pulsed light (IPL)therapy. This is an effective way to treat larger vein issues, like varicose veins. And, although the methods differ, the means are roughly the same.

The difference is the scale and the kind of energy used. Laser, IPL, and VeinGogh vascular therapies rely on a thermal effect. Heating the offending blood vessel targets the hemoglobin in the pooling blood, which coagulates the vessel and, in effect, shuts it down. Blood vessels become enlarged for a variety of reasons, including rosacea, but are made visible because of pooling blood and the vein’s inability to move the blood along as necessary. By shutting down the offending veins, the body naturally reabsorbs each now-defunct vein and redirects blood flow into other healthier blood vessels. The Smith Vein Institute’s VeinGogh procedure uses a proprietary technology called Ohmic Thermolysis. (3) This is named after Georg Ohm, a 19th-century physicist, and mathematician who understood electrical currents and conductivity. His work has had resounding practical and theoretical applications to electronics, and to vascular health; in fact, the device you’re reading this on wouldn’t be possible without his work. (4) VeinGogh uses an electrical current in a minuscule needle to treat small blood vessels. Ohmic Thermolysis is able to accomplish the same effect as wider applications of laser or intense pulsed light energy without collateral damage to the surrounding tissue.

Should You Go for VeinGogh?

Adults who wish to treat the redness and visible blood vessels that prove troublesome during flare-ups of rosacea are good candidates for VeinGogh. Thin spider veins, or tangled, thread-like veins known as “telangiectasia,” are easily and effectively treated with Ohmic Thermolysis. Those who are looking for a quick procedure with no downtime could be excellent candidates for the VeinGogh procedure.

Personal Consultation

During your personal consultation, you’ll meet with Dr. Smith to discuss what VeinGogh can do for you. Expect compassionate and attentive care. Dr. Smith will review your medical history and ask questions about your rosacea and what treatment methods you’ve tried or are currently using. After a careful examination of your skin, he’ll decide whether VeinGogh is the right treatment for you or if another of the vascular services he offers would better suit your needs. If you’re interested in learning more about your circulatory system and how the Smith Vein Institute helps patients, follow Dr. Smith’s blog.

Procedure

Rosacea Treatment Ohio

Before your VeinGogh procedure starts, your treatment area will be thoroughly cleansed. Dr. Smith will then insert a hair-thin needle into your skin to reach the tiny visible blood vessel. This vessel carries an electrical current that targets each individual blood vessel. VeinGogh uses “microburst technology,” which allows the doctor to apply short, even bursts of heat. This ensures that only the vein at stake is being affected and is treated quickly.

The tiny vessels that contribute to your flushing and redness will be destroyed and disappear quickly. Most procedures take less than 20 minutes to perform, and there’s little preparation and no recovery time required.

Since the procedure uses a hair-thin probe inserted into the vessel, there can be a “pinch.” Patients report it feels similar to a hair being removed. So, if you get your eyebrows done, VeinGogh will be a piece of cake.

After you VeinGogh treatment, you’ll notice results immediately.  You will also see continuous improvement over several weeks as the treated vessels are reabsorbed. Without the network of enlarged blood vessels across your cheeks and nose, you’ll have an overall effect of less redness. Plus, you’ll be free of those wiry little capillaries snaking across your cheeks or nose.

You’ll be able to ditch the thick, color correcting concealers and forgo the embarrassment (which also causes flushing) of persistent redness. As those with rosacea know, treating this condition in a consistent manner avoids many of its other symptoms.

Broken blood vessels can leak fluid and proteins, which can cause facial swelling. By using VeinGogh to treat inflamed blood vessels, they can be prevented from breaking and avoid swelling.

Recovery

VeinGogh is targeted and precise. Unlike other vein treatment procedures, VeinGogh limits the risk of over-treating, so there is little to no trauma to the skin. And, this is entirely the point of VeinGogh! Rather than subjecting the entire surface of your face to laser or IPL energy, VeinGogh deals with redness and flushing at the source: vein by vein. Following treatment, you may experience some temporary redness. Men and women treated with VeinGogh can resume their normal activities immediately after their procedure. No bandages or downtime is required.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Many patients compare treatment with VanGogh to the little pinch that accompanies a hair being removed. But what if you never had to worry about hair removal ever again? The Smith Vein Institute offers laser hair removal, and after a few sessions of this nearly-painless treatment, you’ll be able to forget about the hassle of shaving, waxing, or plucking. Laser energy targets hair at the root to shut down the hair follicle and prevents future hair growth.

How Much Does VeinGogh Cost in Cleveland?

The cost of your VeinGogh procedure will depend on the number of veins needing treatment and the size of the areas being treated. Because the VeinGogh targets individual and visible blood vessels one at a time, procedures can take only a few minutes or up to 20 minutes. The best way to get an idea about what your VeinGogh treatment may cost is to schedule a consultation appointment.
